February re-cap

Not an easy month to get through this year, but we've just about made it. Before too much time goes by, here are a few more favorite images from these past few weeks. Adios February...

Three is the magic number!

Or so the song goes. That's it...three. He's not a baby anymore. I've been saying that for a while, but somehow the number makes it official. We had a lovely little gathering of family and friends, including Judy, Grampa & Lulu, Gitta & Sam, Lila, Tim & Eleanor, Auntie Pat, Great Grandma, and Aunt Rebecca. I attempted a carrot cake sweetened only with dates and bananas, but Tim's macaroons stole the show.
Next adventures: potty training and pacifier elimination.

The View

Winter is tough. It just is. No matter how much we get outside, overdose on D3, stay active and pray for sun, come February and March, we are ready for spring. And the trouble is, this year, we can't get outside as much as usual due to the infant "nap trap", lack of sleep, colds, stomach bugs, etc. So, I've had to settle for the indoor view. This one is my favorite, during rare moments when both kids are napping, and I get to enjoy a cup of tea and the quiet. This view, in all its stillness and color, radiates love. And it makes everything else okay.

Making Friends With 2011

I can't say that the beginning of 2011 will go down in my books as the best start to a new year I've ever had. Although I am grateful that we're all healthy, there have been a few too many stresses lately to feel as if we're getting off on the right foot. Or, maybe it's just that my ability to handle small things has been hampered by a severe lack of sleep, severe lack of sunshine, and the inability to be outside as much as we would like. There have been a lot of changes; Beck has now moved into a self-dubbed "Big Boy Bed", which is so far going well, and Cora has moved from our room into her own crib in her own room, which goes well most of the time. We've endured a stomach bug (which amazingly enough, neither child got) that could very well have been stress-induced for me, and now Doug has a cold.
In any case...I decided that this morning we were due for some photos, fun, and giggles. I allowed Beck to jump on our bed for about a 1/2 hour straight...all for the cause, of course. What I didn't count on was Cora's reaction. Every time Beck jumped, it bounced her just a little...she began laughing so hard she couldn't breathe, which in turn made Beck and I laugh so hard that we couldn't breathe. Even though at one point there was an accidental head collision between the two children, resulting in a few tears, all was resolved by a few more jumps from Beck and laughs from Cora.
Today will be just a little easier to get through :)
