beginning of fall.

Yesterday Doug had the day off, and we decided to neglect all the "should"s and instead went for fun. A perfect day for a hike and the apple orchard! These days Beck insists on wearing a plant container on his head that he calls his hat, and Cora adores pumpkins, and will "hug" anything you ask her to...as well as things you don't. On her own, she reached out to cuddle the giant pumpkins at the orchard. Such a beautiful day, and grateful that the rain held off until we got home!

end of summer.

It's here. Actually, it was a little while ago. But this photo, taken just a couple of weeks ago, reminds me that it's true. Beck wasn't wearing a shirt, that means it had to be at least...well, never mind. I guess that doesn't prove my point. He'll go naked in any temperature. But, there are blackberries...and now there aren't. Summer is over. Where did it go? One more hot beach day would make me really, ridiculously happy!!

ONE!

Well, despite everyone having a cold the weekend of Cora's first birthday, her little party was on a beautiful day, and it couldn't have been a better crowd of friends and family. I scraped together some decorations for photographic purposes, and had fun with the photos. I can't believe it's been a year since our sweet little girl came into our lives...she and Beck are the best things that have ever happened to us, and I can't even imagine life without them anymore. As if on cue, the two days before her actual birthday, Cora took her first unassisted steps...several times. It seemed like a big deal this time around, not that it wasn't with Beck, but I think this time it was because I actually witnessed those first steps, and with Beck is was a slow progression from one to several over a period of time. Anyhow...time is flying, and I don't want to miss a thing! So, here we go...pink cupcakes, flowers from the garden, and a beautiful day! Teething

Oh. The pain. Little sleep and lots of tears, coupled with diaper rash, fevers and drooling = one unhappy little Cora. Poor thing. She's normally so happy, but it's been hard to get a smile out of her during the past few weeks. Thankfully, the most recent two teeth are through, and she's back to her normal self. These photos, however, are from a day after a bad night.

Bar Harbor

Well, here I am playing catch-up again. These photos are from my trip to Bar Harbor alone with the kids to visit our friends Jon and Emily Miller, and their two children Lincoln and Anita. Such a beautiful few days, and a perfect ending to the summer!
